It's Apparent

---couresty of P.B., aka "Mr. B," Laramie, Wyoming, from years of substitute teaching

What is the difference between a bald man, a prince, an orphan, and a monkey's mother?

  • A bald man has no hair apparent.

  • A prince is an heir apparent.

  • An orphan has nary a parent.

  • A monkey's mother is a hairy parent.

Have a good day!~!

How and Why We Added Katahdin Hair Sheep to Our Flock

Farmgirlfare is a wonderful, funny and educational site with huge doses of cute every day if you want it and which I heartily recommend.  This particular post tells how she found the solution to a certain parasitic problem when raising sheep in wet conditions.

Big Business Practices and Our Wallet

Recently I bought a 6-pack, the big spender that I am.  The company has changed the appearance of the can quite noticeably.  I liked the little squatty handful of the old style and it's contents of course and thought nothing of the change.  That is until I picked up the newer slim shape.  It felt tiny even though it looks pretty much the same....but it is 15 mls less.  Now that might not seem very much and it isn't, its only a tablespoon.  But when there is less product along with a price increase at the same time it's a ripoff.  15 mls in this case saves the company 6.3% up front so along with the price increase, the savings in materials and shipping it becomes a pretty big tablespoon full of dollar$.
Why not be the first company to be honest with the consumer and just say so instead hoping everyone will just think they are getting exactly the same product but in a new package?  Not going to happen!
Oh by the way, it does NOT taste the same.  I notice it immediately that it was not as sweet as it used to be.  Maybe squishing 90 calories into a smaller space nescessitated kicking out a few granules of sugar.
Anyone want 5 cans of Sprite?

A massive Russian cargo plane, the An-225 has been used to pick one of the world's largest concrete pumps to pour water on the stricken nuclear power plant in Japan.

The 95-ton pump is mounted on a 26-wheel truck and can be operated from two miles away by remote control, allowing it to shoot water into the damaged reactors.

If necessary, it could also be used to entomb one of the damaged nuclear reactors in concrete.

This scene outside my kitchen window adds nothing to my quality of life.  The 'Big Red One' replaces an innocuous and faded beige bin which was tolerable and sat quietly minding its own business. This one insults the senses and yells at me all day long.  It also brings with it a weekly mega-decibel intrusion into the bird songs of morning making more noise than should be allowed.  I feel sorry for anyone who works the night shift there is no way one could sleep through that.
If only I knew a graffiti artist.... but I suppose that would be illegal even if it did beautified the environment.  Pity.

  • Having a place to go--is a home; having someone to live with--is a family.
  • To have a good friend is one of the greatest delights of life.
  • Love doesn't make the world go round, but it makes the ride worthwhile.
  • It's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.
  • a hug is the shortest distance between friends.
  • Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional.
  • Where ever you are, it is your friends who make your world.
  • Falling in love is easy, but staying in love is something very special.
  • You can't help getting older, but you don't have to be old.
  • A friend is someone who reaches for your hand, but touches your heart.
  • To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world.

Spring Blossoms in My Home

My African Violet never fails to brings me joy.  All winter it bloomed lightly one or two stems at a time but it is feeling the long days and bright hours now and is starting to show off.  I've never had one that is so continually productive and pretty and frilly to boot!
